PRODUCT PRINCIPLES LEARNED ON THE BATTLEFIELD

The learning loop (talk to users, build & deploy, analyse behaviour, positioning GEO & GTM) only works if you survive the enemies. Press S or tap to play.

The Learning Loop: talk to users, build & deploy, analyse behaviour, positioning GEO & GTM

I learned the hard way several lessons from different companies at different stages:

  1. BIASESCheck your biases carefully: it is easier than you think to let your own biases misguide you into building something nobody wants or, even worse, raising money at unreasonable high valuations
  2. SOLUTION IN SEARCH OF A PROBLEMBuild something that truly automates a job to be done and is perceived as significantly better than the alternative: customers overvalue their status quo, so marginal improvements never trigger a switch
  3. TECH DEBT · BUGSIf you build something that brings no value because of tech debt or poor technical execution, do not expect users to stay
  4. BAD SIGNALAnalyse user behaviour, not words: what users do reveals the real push and pull behind a switch, what they say does not
  5. FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE ITFrame your positioning and messaging for both your clients and AI after each learning loop iteration. However, do not abuse repositioning: your user base attention is limited
  6. PIVOT HELLMost importantly, the learning loop works only if you focus on a space. If you constantly change target and space, you are not building a learning loop, just burning out in pivot hell

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

  • Hope: expecting good despite fear
  • Faith: trusting good despite suffering
  • Love: willing good despite hurt

Hope, Faith, and Love are all that matter. Building products & startups, writing, reading, and crafting narratives help me keep these gentle flames alive. This is because product building and writing share "the operative link between Imagination and the final result, Sub-creation"1, and what is called melachah: purposeful, creative work done with intention2.

This is what I seek in every venture.

I am currently freelancing, helping fellow founders with their product strategy, positioning & website (SEO/GEO), while indie hacking to find my next venture. I am however open to full-time positions, especially in scaleups, as long as the founders have clear vision, humility, and a dedicated craftsman culture. No "fake it till you make it".

1 J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy-Stories (1947).

2 Torah concept of melachah: creative work modeled on the building of the Mishkan.

01 · CLEAR VISION

Clear vision

You know the space you want to build in, with unfair advantage and information asymmetry.

02 · HUMILITY

Humility

Unimpressed by your net worth, your round, your ego. Impressed by humility in success and hope in bad waters. Arrogance and vanity? We cannot work together.

03 · MONOZUKURI

Monozukuri

You do not just want to make money. You want to create something you are proud of: excellent, not scrappy.
